Classical Simple System

The numbers that we normally use (1, 2, 3, 4 etc) are called "Arabic numerals". But we sometimes use an other system

for writing numeric, "Roman numerals". The Romans used letters of the alphabet to represent numbers, and you will

occasionally see this system used for, clock faces, dates, banners & book pages etc.

The Romans used some of the letters in their alphabet to represent numbers. 


In general, letters are placed in decreasing order of value, eg XVIII = 18. Letters can be repeated one or two times to

increase value, eg XX = 20, XXX = 30. Letters cannot be repeated three times, so XXXX is not used for 40. In this

case, XL = 40 (50 - 10):-


Difference between Arabic and Roman Number System,

Arabic:  I1 , O5 , .0

Roman:  I1 , V5 , X10


Arabic and Roman Numeral System are same but difference in converting the numerals in to number system . Arab converted the ten numerals (digits) in to one number (1 ) In Math 10 = 1 unit or number.  " ten in one".

In Roman numerology one digit is equal one number (1). They didn't converted the ten digits in one unit. See the Spinning machine Wheels. Arabs converted the ten digits in one unit but Roman do not converted the ten digits in one unit or one number. They converted the ten digits in ten numbers X = 10

This is very big difference between  Arabic number system and Roman number system, but Numerical Science is same.

M for 1,000 is the largest unique Roman number. To make larger ones you draw a line over the number to signify it being multiplied by 1,000. One million is 1,000 x 1,000, so it would be an M with a line above it.



= 1,000 x 1,000 x 1,000 = 1,000,000,000 One Billion

Two lines over the number to signify it being multiplied by 1,000 x 1,000 One billion is 1,000 x 1,000 x 1,000. So it would be an with two lines above it.


  = 1,000 x 1,000 x 1,000 x 1,000 = 1,000,000,000,000 One Trillion

 Three lines over the number to signify it being multiplied by 1,000 x 1,000 x 1,000 One million is 1,000 x 1,000 x 1,000 x 1,000 = One Trillion.

So it would be an  with three lines above it.
